Extension Springs Image

Extension Springs

Extension Springs are closed-coiled helical springs that extend under a pulling force. They are wound with initial tension which holds the coils together and offers resistance to a pulling force. Extension Spring ends are either standard or special hooks / loops and are attached at both ends to other components. When these components move apart, the Extension Spring brings them back into place. Extension Springs are manufactured using various types of materials and finishes to meet your design needs.

At Elyria Spring & Stamping, we manufacture standard and custom Extension Springs in almost any length and degree of tension according to pulling force. Applications include:

  • Medical Devices

  • Automotive Interior Springs

  • Brake Springs

  • Hand Tools

  • Toys

  • Farm Machinery

  • Washing Machines
    …and much more

Although hook and crossover loop ends are the most common, we custom design and manufacture the following to meet your needs:

  • Side Hooks

  • Full Round Loop

  • Crossover (English) Hook

  • Machine (German) Hook

  • D Loops

Torsion Springs Image

Torsion Springs

Torsion Springs are helical coil springs that exert a torque or rotary force and are subject to bending stresses, rather than torsional stress, as the name implies.

Torsions Springs are designed to work in a clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation so that the deflection causes the spring to wind up from the free position – never to unwind from the free position.

The ends of Torsions Springs are attached to other components, and when those components rotate around the center of the spring, the spring tries to push them back to their original position.

Torsion Spring ends are straight or custom to meet your individual application. We can custom manufacture any Torsion Spring and end, from almost any material, to meet your design needs.

At Elyria Spring & Stamping, we custom manufacture a wide range of Torsion Springs for such applications as:

  • Hinges

  • Hardware

  • Medical Devices

  • Electronics

  • Automotive

  • Safety Restraints

  • …and many more
